His work is further broken down into various categories in Urdu, such as short stories, novels, and plays that he wrote for radio and television. Additionally, he has won numerous honours for his outstanding works.
From a young age, Ashfaq Ahmed became devoted to intellectual pursuits. He first began writing for the Phool Magazine. After his return from Europe, he started the literary magazine "Dastaango," which means storyteller, and formally entered his profession.
As a screenwriter, Ashfaq Ahmad also joined Radio Pakistan. Additionally, he served as director of "Lail-o-Nihar," a popular Urdu weekly (day and night). For his shows, he went by the name Talqeen Shah as well.
